Rock the Coast Adds Another Stage and Full Day of Music

March 12, 2008

A new musical twist is the addition of the Rock the Coast "dAy Stage"...featuring Christian rock bands all day on Saturday on a stage in the park. That means the music will literally start at Noon on Saturday and continue on into the evening show at the Main Stage. Our RTC audience LOVES to hear new bands and this is an addition that will be very popular. The "dAy Stage" will feature 4 bands: Secondhand, Good Luck Varsity, The Pete Cornelius Band and The Advent, plus Main Stage headliner Hawk Nelson will "meet n' greet" the crowd at the "dAy Stage" at 4:30 on Saturday!

The "dAy Stage" will also be the location of the 11:00 am Sunday worship, a Rock the Coast tradition that our many out of town group attendees look forward to-the outdoor setting in the park adds a casual feel to a serious time of worship and praise. Tommee Profitt returns for the 2nd year to lead worship, after appearing on the Main Stage on Saturday.

"Ride all day, rock all night" is more than a catch phrase..is really describes the atmosphere at Rock the Coast. There is so much to do that the two day ticket is the only way to experience all this event has to offer!

Rock the Coast Lineup Announced... Tickets On Sale Now

November 28, 2007

"Rock the Coast is back for it's 5th year and we are planning for the biggest and best weekend yet!". This was the announcement today from Alive on the Lakeshore Chairman Roger Eikenberry as he unveiled the artist lineup and other changes for the annual Christian music weekend at Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park in Muskegon. "We feel that Rock the Coast is an event that has built up a great fan base and is ready to go to another level this coming May", said Eikenberry. "We are also excited to announce that tickets will be held at last year's prices!"

Rock the Coast will be held on May 17 & 18, 2008 at Michigan's Adventure, the largest amusement park in Michigan, and will again feature top name Christian music groups combined with two days of rides at the popular and expanding park. "New for 2008 is the "Thunderhawk" roller coaster and Rock the Coast attendees will be among the first to be able to ride this exciting new attraction", said Eikenberry. "Michigan's Adventure continues to invest and expand and this is a big addition that will just add to the fun of Rock the Coast weekend."

Rock the Coast 2008 will feature two stages on Saturday, May 17th to add more music than ever to the event. "We will have a local/regional stage running all day Saturday in the park to add to the atmosphere, while we prepare the Main Stage for the evening show", Eikenberry announced. Each year many groups travel from across the state for the unique combination of fun and faith; making Rock the Coast an end of the school year/start of summer celebration for thousands of teens and families. "Having more music on Saturday is another way to highlight the Christian message that is key to the event", Eikenberry added. "It is also a great way to further highlight the work that is done by our partner ministries, Youth for Christ and First Priority, in reaching and helping teens in their spiritual growth."

The Main Stage lineup for Rock the Coast was also announced. Opening this year’s show is the new band Run, Kid, Run. This 4 piece, pop/rock band combines catchy tunes with clever lyrics, all with a positive tone and message. "We want to help people feel better about what is happening in their lives", says guitar player Neil Endicott.

Group 1 Crew makes their Rock the Coast debut in the middle of the '08 lineup. Young, energetic, diverse and original….this hip-hop group makes the stage come alive with singing , dancing, rapping and ministry. A recent blog on their web page describes their mission as "a message of hope and encouragement that not only can touch a life, but inspire a generation."

Headlining Rock the Coast 2008 is the ultra popular Hawk Nelson. This pop/punk band, originally from Ontario, was voted "Favorite New Artist" by CCM Magazine in 2006 and has spent the last 3 years touring extensively. They were featured on the A-Stage at the Unity Festival in 2006 and have a huge West Michigan following. Their songs have been used on several TV shows and movies and their most recent album produced the #1 song "Everything You Ever Wanted". With a new album due out in April '08, Rock the Coast fans can expect to hear the latest Hawk Nelson music in an all new stage show!

"We hope to see this event top 4,000 people for the first time in 2008", said Eikenberry. "It's a great event and a great setting for the whole family. Last year's event had over 3,300 fans, setting a new high and with the new roller coaster and the great lineup, we expect another record year." Proceeds from the event are donated to Youth for Christ and area First Priority ministries.
